The Rosethorne Academy

Established in 1704, by the 2nd Reyna Eterna, the Rosethorne Academy is the leading magi academy and preparatory college of Rosamund. Rosethorne is responsible for training around 90% of the top mages, according to a 2004 study collected and analyzed by the Rosamundi Ministry of Magic. The academy boasts multiple premier accolades, including consistently achieving the top yearly test scores during the Tepopochtli (Common: smoking, as referring to "smoking mirrors") year after year.


Rosethorne features top tier facilities, including state of the art dueling rooms, a four story library featuring many ancient and important cultural texts, top of the line alchemy labratories, multiple ōllama (Common: ball game) fields, as well as a handful of unique facilities, such as an elemental forge, a large ampitheater, and an chronomantic research lab. The academy also includes many interesting and important subjects and extracurriculars, including multiple foreign magics, not often seen in other academies and magic colleges.


The subjects taught at Rosethorne are:

  • Conjuration & Summoning

    • A study of the conjuration of organic and inorganic objects, as well as an in-depth look into how summoning works and conjuration theory.

  • Restorative Arts

    • The study of medical magic, focusing on healing and regenerative magic uses.

  • Bardic Arts

    • The study of the art of musical spellcraft, bardic theory, and bardic history including an in-depth look at the twelve colleges of bardcraft.

  • Advanced Bardcraft

    • A closer look at bardic theory, particularly the formulation, creation, and testing process of creating new bardcraft spells.


  • Astral Magic and Astrology

    • The study of magic as it relates to solar bodies and their constellations, as well as it's practical uses.

  • Psionics and Telepathic Theory

    • The study of Psionics, of mind magic, as well as the study of telepathic theory.

  • Oneiric Arts and Somnology

    • Dream-related and Sleep-related magic and the study of it's practical uses.


  • Necromantic Arts

    • The study of Necromancy and magic relating to the revival and otherwise control of the dead, thralls, spirits, ghosts, phantoms, and otherwise any manifestation of the undead.

  • Advanced Necromancy

    • A deeper look into Necromantic Arts, including deeper understanding of summoning rituals and necromantic theory, as well as the better understanding of the various spirits and thralls one can summon.

  • Expert Necromancy and Work-study

    • An intensive look into expert necromantic arts, the summoning of demonic spirits and the highest quality thralls and re-birthing rituals, including a year-long work study at one of the government Metamorphosis Chambers.


  • Defensive and Offensive Arts

    • The study of personal magical defense, defensive magic, as well as the study of offensive techniques and their counters.

  • Dueling Education

    • The study of dueling techniques, dueling theory, as well as the study of military and combat techniques, and dueling history.

  • Ritual Choreography

    • A physical education class on the practice of choreography as relating to rituals.

  • Elemental Fusion

    • The study of the case of fusing spells of different elements into singular and their uses.


  • Divination and Scrying

    • The study of fortune telling, fortune telling technique, and fortune telling through the use of various tools, including crystal balls and scrying pools.

  • Illusionary Arts

    • The study of illusions, as well as mind-bending enchantments, influencing or controlling others behaviors, ethical theory, and their practical uses.


  • Enchantment Engineering

    • The study of imbuing tools with magical energy, various imbuing techniques like engraving and crystallization,

  • Runic Arts and Sigilcraft

    • The study of the writing of, creation of, and activation of both runes and sigils as it relates to spellcraft.

  • Artificer Labs and Seminar

    • The study of Artifice arts, the creation of artificer manaprints, and the practical application of artificer engineering.

  • Alchemy Labs and Seminar

    • The study of Alchemical ingredients and production, and the practice of creation.

  • Aritifact Recovery and Research

    • A study on the location, excavation, recovery, restoring, and research of ancient artifacts, as well as an in-depth history of various important artifacts.


  • Botany and Zoology

    • The study of magic plants, and wild animals, including their natural biomes, territory patterns, predatory and carnivorous behaviors, and their natural magical properties.

  • Arcane Ecology

    • The study of naturally occuring magic as well as magic's affect on the environment.


  • Spellcasting Theory

    • The basic history of spellcasting, the fundamentals of understanding related tools, as well as how to consistently and accurately cast spells.

  • Advanced Spellcasting Theory

    • A high-level class, this studies deeper into magic and spellcraft history, the conditions that make certain magic work, as well as a deeper look into various schools and specializations of magic.

  • Ethical Spellcasting

    • The study into ethics in different spellcasting and the proper use of spells and spellcraft.

  • Curse Theory

    • A course on the theory of Curses and their benefits and drawbacks.

  • Eldritch Linguistics

    • The study of ancient and otherwise extra-dimensional languages, such as ancient elven and demonic.

  • Spell Design

    • A theoretical course on the design of spells and spellcrafts.

    • A study on the Milenciano study of mana, as it relates to the body's use of the spirit and the body's use of Vigour, as well as spiritual weight.

    • A study of the sprite Mana Magic System, as well as its relation to allomancy, as well as the understanding and careful use of mana elixrs.

  • Elven and Eldamari History

    • A deep look into elven history, including the ancient kingdoms and empires of Eldamar, as well as their natural connection and affinity to magic.

  • Firsonian Clerical Theory and History

    • A study on Firsonian Clerical Magic, including the history of clerical orders and the of oaths within the magic, as well as a deep dive into how the magic works and heals.
